About Us

Who are we and what do we do?

Who we are

We believe that the church is the place where we can share with true brotherly love, worship together, learn from the Word of God, use our gifts to serve the Lord, and support each person to have a legitimate relationship with Jesus.

We are ordinary people who acknowledge their condition as sinners, but who also believe that we have been forgiven, loved and accepted by God through our faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus. We have been born again and now the Holy Spirit dwells in us, enabling us to preach the Gospel to all nations; until our Savior’s return.

We are a community of love, hope and faith; we are friends, we are family and we want to share all this with you!

More about us

Our Values

Jesus is the center and the ultimate authority over our church. Our gatherings focus on Jesus. He is the means by which all things are redeemed. Everything we do is ultimately about Him.

Luc. 24:27, Heb. 12:1-2, Col. 1:18-20, Col. 3:17

We cry out to the Lord in thanksgiving, pray for others, seek His will and allow ourselves to be guided by the Word and the Holy Spirit.

Philippians 4:6, Juan 16:13, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-19

The Word of God is powerful, beautiful and fundamental. We need the Bible daily, experiencing the joy of obeying God’s commandments.

Acts. 6:4, Heb. 4:12; 2 Tim. 3:16-17

Gathering must be part of the result of our faith. The way we come together teaches us how to live in love, worship God as a church, and share as a community.

Heb. 10:24-25, Col. 3:16, 1 Cor. 14:26

A true Christian has a constant and growing love relationship with God, other believers and their neighbor. We serve others, ensure peace and help those in need.

Acts. 2:42-47, Rom. 12:9-13, Gal. 6:2

We have been adopted as children of God, experiencing his love and forgiveness. The evangelism is the fruit of loving others as we have been loved. Our daily life is our mission field.

1 Pet. 3:15, Luke 19:10, Rom. 10:17, Luke. 15

One Church, under one Lord, with one single purpose We keep the unity of the Spirit, under the same Biblical doctrine, with those with different stances, gifts, skin color, age and socio-economic status.

Rom. 15:5-7, Rom. 12:4-5, Fil. 2:2, John 17:20-21

Brief Historical Overview

Founded in 2010 in San José, Costa Rica, Iglesia El Olivo was born. The congregation begins when some members of a small ministry that was ending, guided by the Holy Spirit, decided to come together under a new vision.

At that time, the members of the church were mostly young, but they were characterized by their immense love and commitment to Jesus Following the Bible, the congregation defines a pastoral staff (elders) as the government, all of them serving ad-honorem.

Over the years, the faith community begins to grow in number and spiritual maturity. Due to this, in 2016 it was decided to remodel the main temple, in order to double the capacity of the gatherings. In 2019, the elders appoint a dedicated senior pastor, to take on the new challenges.

Then, in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic accelerates the need to digitize the services of the congregation through social media, which is assumed. Therefore, this leads the ministry to move to a new building in order to increase the physical capacity of its face-to-face services, in 2021.

Today, El Olivo continues to grow as a Christocentric, modern, creative, intentional congregation, and above all, committed to The Gospel.
